The Department of Economics, University of Perugia (Italy), King’s College (London), Kingston University
(London), and National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR, London) are pleased to
announce the “The future of education, skills and productivity” to be held in Assisi in April 2023 in
honour of GEOFF MASON.

GEOFF passed away in June 2020, and he is sorely missed by a wide community of economic researchers.
GEOFF was active in many areas of economics but his most relevant contributions to the advancement of the
discipline were the measurement of skills and human capital, and their impact on productivity.

The Assisi Workshop in Economics is a regular initiative organized by the Department of Economics of the
University Perugia (Italy) since the late 2000s. The workshop calls for researchers from all areas of the world
to discuss issues related to economic measurement and performance.

GEOFF MASON attended earlier workshops in Assisi and he organized the 2017 meeting on the themes of
Productivity, Innovation and Intangible Investments, as part of LLAKES, a UK ESRC-funded project. Geoff loved
Assisi and enjoyed contributing to the lively research environment. We could not think of a better place to
remember him as a scholar and a friend to many of us.

The aim of the Workshop 2023 is to bring together researchers working on the measurement of skills,
human capital and intangibles and their impact on productivity
.
