Educational objectives The course aims to develop linguistic and communicative skills in Russian language corresponding to level A1 + of CEFR. At the end of course students will have basic knowledge of the following elements:
- Russian phonetics and elementary grammar;
- essential theoretical and practical elements necessary for understanding and producing elementary written and oral texts (corresponding to level A1+);
- basic theoretical and practical elements necessary for translating simple texts on everyday topics from Russian into Italian and viceversa.
Prerequisites The course is intended for absolute beginners, i.e. students with no previous knowledge of Russian language. No prerequisites are required.
Teaching methods The course is organized as follows:
- linguistic practical training held by a native language teacher at CLA;
- classroom lectures on all the topics to be covered, class will be held by the professor who is in charge for the entire course (it is possible to attend the lectures in mixed mode);
- ongoing evaluations
Other information Attendance:
at least 75% of lessons.
To be admitted to the examination, students who cannot attend classes must arrange in advance an alternative program with the course professor.
Learning verification modality To attend the exam at the Department students must have already passed the test of Russian Language I at CLA (University Language Centre).
The exam includes a written test and an oral exam.
The written test consists of a grammar and vocabulary exercise, a reading exercise with multiple-choice and cloze test, as well as a short written composition on a given topic, based on those covered during the course. No use of bilingual or multilingual dictionary is allowed. Duration: two hours. After passing the written test, the student can attend the oral exam.
The oral exam consists of a discussion on the written test, a presentation of a grammar topic (chosen by professor), a reading and translation of a short text from Russian into Italian or viceversa. The student has to demonstrate that he/she can hold a conversation on basic everyday topics at an elementary level, and an active reasoning about grammatical structures of the Russian language alone or in comparison with Italian.
The examination verifies that students have achieved linguistic communicative competence corresponding to level A1+ (CEFR A1+).
The final grade is calculated on the basis of an average of the results achieved in the previous tests.
Extended program This course is designed for students with no previous knowledge of Russian. It aims at providing learners with communicative skills in the language corresponding to A1+ level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR A1+).
The course is divided into two parts: practical training and conversation held by the native-language teacher at CLA, and lectures at the Department given by the professor who is responsible for the entire course.
