| Contents | Contemporary Rewritings: From Frankenstein to Frankissstein, from Mary Shelley to Jeanette Winterson. The course aims to explore the relationship between literature and science in Winterson's writing, reflecting on the impact that a novel like Frankenstein has had on her narratives both from a thematic and stylistic point of view. |
| Reference texts | Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (any edition), Frankissstein by Jeanette Winterson (New York, Grove Press, 2019). Other critical material will be indicated at the beginning of the course. The course aims to deepen the theme of the relationship between literature and science in Winterson's writing, reflecting on the impact that a novel like Frankenstein has had on narrative both thematically and stylistically. To achieve this goal, a selection of critical essays published by Winterson through years will also be examined. |
