Contents The first part of the course will provide students with the fundamentals of Public law. Topics include: general theory of law, sources and interpretation of the law, general theory of the State, general theory of the Constitution. The central part of the course will focus on Italian Constitution. Topics include: fundamental principles, rights and duties of citizens, organization of the Republic.

Reference texts The student may choose one of the following books, as long as it is the latest edition:

Educational objectives The course is designed both to provide students with a basic knowledge and understanding of the main framework of the public law, also as a premise for the further legal courses that the students will attend in their subsequent career and in order to realize the relevance of the legal dimension in the political systems.
Prerequisites No formal prerequisites are required to attend the course.
Teaching methods Theoretical and case law-based lectures. Slides are not provided. Seminars will be held on topical issues.

Learning verification modality Students' knowledge and abilities will be assessed through oral exam at the end of the course. No mid-term exams will be provided. The exam will focus on all the contents of the texbook.
