| Contents | The course is aimed at students with an A2+ language proficiency level in Russian and provides for the acquisition of oral and written language skills, with related morphological, syntactic and lexical knowledge, corresponding to level B1+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR B1+). |

| Educational objectives | This course is the third Russian language exam that the student takes within the Degree Course in Foreign Languages and Cultures and aims to develop language and communication skills in Russian equal to level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The main knowledge that students will acquire will be: - knowledge of the morphosyntactic system of the Russian language corresponding to level B1+; - theoretical and critical elements related to interlingual translation. The main skills will be: - to understand and produce texts in Russian corresponding to level B1+; - translate from Russian into Italian and vice versa; - understand and correctly use Russian grammar; - theoretical reflection on the operation of translating from Italian into Russian and vice versa. |
| Prerequisites | The course of Russian Language III is intended for students who have successfully completed the exam of Russian Language II. Topics covered in the module require knowledge of Russian language corresponding to level A2 of the European Common Framework of Languages (CEFR A2). Students have to possess elementary linguistic and communicative skills in oral and written Russian, alongside the most relevant morphosyntactic structures of the Russian language. They have to be able to understand sentences and frequently used expressions in Russian related to conversational topics, such as personal and family information, everyday life and culture, geography, employment; communicate in a simple way with native speakers on personal and everyday matters; describe in simple oral and written texts aspects of personal background, everyday life and current culture (indispensable prerequisites). These prerequisites are valid both for attending and not attending students. |
| Teaching methods | The course is organized as follows: - Linguistic practical training held in Russian by the native language teacher at CLA; - Classroom lectures, held by the course professor, on all the topics of the course. Students with disabilities and/or SLDs may request, in consultation with the lecturer, any teaching materials in accessible formats (presentations, handouts, workbooks), provided if necessary in advance of the lectures, as well as the use of other technological tools to facilitate study. | Other information | Attendance: at least 75% of lessons. Photocopies and other teaching materials will be provided during classes, also in English. To be admitted to the examination, students who do not attend classes must arrange in advance an alternative program with the course teacher. For the exam students will have to read and translate about 80 pages in Russian (prose, poetry, newspaper or journal articles, essays). Working and non-attending students are requested to contact the course professor well in advance, preferably at the beginning of the academic year. | Learning verification modality | To sit the exam students must have already passed the test of Russian Language III at CLA (University Language Centre). The exam includes a written test and an oral exam. Verification of knowledge: The written test consists of a translation (without dictionary) from Italian into Russian of about ten phrases selected according to the topics covered during the course, as well as a translation of a text from Russian into Italian with the help of a bilingual and/or monolingual dictionary (duration: approximately 2 hours). The oral exam consists of a discussion of the written test. Students have also to demonstrate that they have read, understood and translated about 80 pages in Russian (prose, poetry, newspaper and journal articles, essays, etc.). They have to answer questions on grammar and syntax and will discuss the texts they have read in Russian. Verification of skills: The examination verifies that students have achieved linguistic communicative competence corresponding to level B1+ (CEFR B1+). The final grade is the average of the marks obtained in the various tests. The written test lasts approximately 1 hour. The oral test lasts approximately 30'. Students with disabilities and/or SLDs: for the way the tests are conducted, students can make use of the inclusive technologies, compensatory tools and dispensatory measures provided for by the regulations. | Extended program | Aimed at students who already have knowledge of Russian at level A2, the course provides for the acquisition of oral and written language skills, with related morphological, syntactic and lexical knowledge, corresponding to level B1+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. On the basis of literary and advertising texts, which will be read with the students during the lessons, the following topics will be covered: verb prefixes; tense indications; participles and gerunds; reflexive verbs; particular uses of verbs; indefinite and negative pronouns; fundamentals of simple and compound period syntax. The course is divided into two parts: practical exercises and conversation, held in Russian by a native speaker at CLA, and lectures held by the official lecturer. |
