| Contents | After several introductory lessons, this course will focus on the process of state building and democratization in the contemporary world (20th and 21st centuries), with particular reference to international geopolitical events after the fall of the Berlin wall. |

| Extended program | After several introductory lessons, this course will focus on the process of state building and democratization in the contemporary world (20th and 21st centuries), with particular reference to international political events after the fall of the Berlin wall. Special attention will be given to the spread of populism in Europe and to the debate regarding the crisis in representative democracy. |
