Educational objectives Critical awareness of the main points of argument characterizing the evolution of moral philosophy and of the thematic areas in which the ethical debate is oriented. It is expected: the acquisition of the philosophical contents of the discipline and the methodology of reading and interpretation of philosophical texts; the development of the ability of elaborative-critical and interpretative orientation.

Other information The frequency of the lessons is not compulsory but highly recommended as well as a condition for access to the test in progress that precedes the final exam. The detailed program and additional information (reference texts and readings proposed during the lessons) can be found in the portal Unistudium (https///www.unistudium.unipg.it/unistudium/).
Learning verification modality The course of the exam will be in written form, through an online test. The test will be as follows:
comments to the text of four passages taken from the books in the program: Ethics Nicomachea; Criticism of practical reason; Ethics and morality. The maximum time available is 60 minutes.
The main subject of assessment concerns the acquisition of critical capacity, the levels of knowledge and understanding regarding the theoretical and methodological content illustrated during the course of the Lessons.
The assessment of the skills acquired during the examination is measured in thirtieth.
During the course there is the possibility of optional tests in progress, the methods of which will be made known by the teacher during the lessons and by publishing notices on the page Unistudium course.

In the event that the student intends to advance the exam in a year prior to that planned in the study plan, it is recommended to attend the cycle of lessons and take the exam in the first useful appeal after the lessons themselves are finished, in compliance with the teaching planning semester.
Extended program The course aims introduces to the study of moral philosophy, presenting the main categories and perspectives. A first part of the course will be dedicated to the recognition of the terms and themes that have marked the evolution of moral philosophy and that distinguish contemporary debates in the many fields of applied ethics. Subsequently, a commented reading will be proposed of parts taken from Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics and Kant’s Critique of Practical Reason, to conclude with the analysis of the relationship between ethics and morality proposed by Ricoeur.
