Contents | Advanced knowledge on mechanisms of gene expression regulation in Eukaryotes at transcritpional and post-transcriptional levels and on experimental tools used for their study. Advanced methodologies for molecular studies on wide scale manly at genomic, transcriptomic and epitranscriptomic. All these acquired knowledge will facilitate the understanding of molecular mechanisms in physiological and pathological conditions using modern advanced approaches. |
Reference texts | Biologia molecolare - Zlatanova, van Holde - 2018 Biologia molecolare del gene Watson, Baker, Bell, Gann, Levine, Losick - edizione 2022 Genetica e Genomica nell scienze mediche. Educational objectives | The course aims to provide a solid advanced knowledge on the activity of genes and genomes and on the mechanisms of gene regulation at transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels. Moreover, the course provides training tools for the execution of analytical-instrumental procedures necessary for carrying out biological investigations in vivo, in vitro and in silico. |
Prerequisites | Basic knowledge of molecular and cellular biology |
Teaching methods | Lectures will be made by using slides and movies. Wet labs in order to put into practice the theoretical knowledge. |
Other information | It is possible to arrange an appointment with the Professor via email. |
Learning verification modality | oral exam aimed to assess the knowledge acquired and the ability to understand the topics of the course and of a scientific work selected by the student; therefore, communication skills and the use of proper scientific language will be assessed.
