Contents The course is a laboratory of physics consisting of two modules: (1) an introductory module focused on the basic tools of measuring physical quantities: precision, accuracy and sensitivity of a measuring instrument; uncertainty (error) in measurements; propagation of uncertainties (errors); rejection criteria for experimental data, Gaussian distribution for the results of a measurement. (2) an experimental module in which the students will carry out laboratory experiments such as: measure of g, study of uniformly accelerated motion, diffraction of coherent (LASER) light from gratings, spectroscopy, Franck-Hertz experiment, measure of Planck constant h.

Educational objectives The course of the didactic laboratory of physics aims to allow students to gain confidence and working autonomy in the use of some classic measuring instruments combined with more advanced instruments available to everyone (smart-phone as a measuring instrument). The course will allow to consolidate skills in the use of methods for the treatment, analysis and presentation of experimental data and their critical presentation in the form of a technical report.
Prerequisites Basic knowledge of classical physics. Algebra and calculus
Teaching methods Lectures and experiments to be carried out in laboratory.

Learning verification modality The exam usually consists of an individual discussion that focuses on the experiences carried out during the year and on the topics that make up the course program. Each student will have to present a detailed report on the proposed laboratory experiences with a discussion of the measure she intends to do, the method adopted and the result achieved. The reports presented form the basis on which the student is evaluated and the oral discussion will tend to verify the mastery of the measurement techniques used and the discussion of the results obtained in the laboratory.
