Contents This course deals with innovation, dynamics and evolution across sectors and firms in the economy. After introducing some basic concepts about innovation, we will discuss how innovation is measured and refer to the knowledge production function. We will then move on to understand the nature and evolution of technologies and delve into the geography of innovation. A specific section of the course will look at the economics of patents.
We will also investigate the relationships between innovation and
the dynamics of industries, with a special emphasis to the role firm growth and productivity
international business activities of firms
This course will also highlight the dark side of innovation and the role of policy in supporting innovation. Finally, we will look into the economics of Artificial Intelligence.
