Contents Analysis of key concepts of contemporary conflicts, peacekeeping (violent conflict prevention, peace operations in the global politics, typologies of peace operations, contemporary challenges), normal peace and interventions of normalization in turbulent societies. Conflict transformation will be analysed through the lens of space, identity and in relation to violent extremist religous groups which employ the terrorism' tecniques.

Educational objectives
Theory is not separated from the world, it contributes to shape what we see.
The aim of the course is to analyse peacekeeping in its evolution and transformation in relation to contemporary conflicts. Conflict transformation will be analysed through the definition of space, peace and identity.
Provide to the students of the essential analytic tools to understand the nuance of peacekeeping and of contemporary conflict transformation, which would be useful to build their professional career.
Prerequisites There are no prerequisites for this course.
Teaching methods Lecture- base class, structured around student engaged and discussion. It would be an entire section on simulation (in class) of fundamental techniques of negotiation and peace negotiation. In order to bridge theory and practice, it would be analysed (some) peacekeeping operations around the world and students would view – and examine - essential documentaries on peacekeeping and intractable conflicts.

Learning verification modality Attending regularly the lessons, participate to the simulation activities, would be an essential requisite to gain a score that would be added at the final exam.
