Educational objectives
The course has a dual purpose: to develop essential knowledge about Pedagogy and to provide a multidimensional framework of the environment as a central factor in education. It is based on an ecological-systemic approach to education, which offers a broad and in-depth perspective on the dynamics and functions of education in relation to different systems and environments. The constructs and concepts addressed are analyzed through the lens of sustainability mechanisms, which serve as a key interpretative framework for the future progress of the educational and social system.

In detail, the course's learning objectives are:

- Recognizing the elements that establish Pedagogy as an autonomous science
- Identifying and describing the objects of Pedagogy
- Reflecting on the role of Pedagogy in today's educational context
- Understanding the paradigmatic elements for the transition from special education to inclusive education
- Recognizing human potential and fostering its development in a sustainable context
- Acquiring knowledge of the essential elements of Environmental Pedagogy
Prerequisites
The course does not require any specific prerequisites.
Teaching methods
The teaching methods are diverse:
- Traditional lecture-based method
- Formative assessment and feedback
- Discussion and active participation in lessons

The course is structured as a traditional lecture-based course, but on certain highly relevant topics, additional in-depth activities may be proposed for small group work.
Other information
Attendance of the lessons is strongly recommended.
Learning verification modality
The assessment focuses on the fundamental aspects of the course and is based on the study of the texts listed in the bibliography. The objective of the evaluation is to verify:

- Mastery of the course content and the acquisition of essential disciplinary knowledge;
- The ability to communicate concepts and course objectives clearly, effectively, and accurately, using appropriate pedagogical terminology;
- Argumentative and reflective competence, demonstrating a critical approach to the topics covered;
- The ability to recognize categories, languages, and concepts specific to the pedagogical debate in relation to the course content.

The assessment of learning progresses through different stages:

- Initial test – Written open-ended response, completed via computer or smartphone on the Unistudium platform ¿ Written feedback
- Midterm test – Written open-ended response, completed via computer or smartphone on the Unistudium platform + Self-assessment ¿ Written feedback
- Final exam – Oral examination + Oral self-assessment ¿ Oral feedback + Grade out of 30

The underlying idea of this assessment method is the application of formative assessment, which involves the collection of evidence (data) on students’ starting points and progress throughout the learning process, providing guidance on how to prepare for the final exam. The initial and midterm tests will not be graded on a 30-point scale but will serve as opportunities for students to receive feedback on their learning process.

Additionally, self-assessments will play a significant role, being required both midway and at the end of the course. These assessments are crucial for fostering awareness of one’s own learning journey.
